Rukungiri Municipality is an administrative subregion in Rukungiri District in Western Region in Uganda.

Rukungiri Municipal Council Local government is organized hierarchically and is divided into four levels. Thus,  cell council (LC I), Ward council (LC II),Division Council (LC III), Municipality council (LC IV) and district council (LC V). 

Rukungiri Municipal Council is located in South Western Uganda.  It lies at an approximate altitudinal range of about 615 m to 1864 m above sea level; Latitude 0°47'12.0"S (-0.7866700°) and Longitude 29°55'55.3"E (29.9320200°). The administrative Headquarters of the Municipality are situated in Eastern division about 380 km from Kampala, the Capital City of Uganda.
